The friend told MC to basically forget what happened because he doesn't seem to harbor any romantic feelings anymore. I specifically recall him sighing in relief (the friend). So he's not a love rival anymore. For the later chapters it's hinted he might get together with the doctor demon (the one from ch 16 http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/dear_door/mdx/hs_chapter-16/pg-1/)

Bruh I don’t even know anymore. I like the main relationship, but like, the main character’s friend..dayum..I feel so bad for him (“ ‘ - ‘ )! Why does he gotta be forced to fall out of love, now he got his mind broken and it’s sad! I want the MC the end up with the friend JUST to end his suffering, but MC x demon seems cute aswell ;-;
