He was always insecure, given he had inferior skills as a magic artisan. Since they were engaged, he probably thought she'd grow to like him as a man, trust him more and see him as an equal partner.
But she never did, she didn't confide her worries to him and was always independent in her work. She treated him as just a senior, not a life partner. And when Dahliya said that sentence, it just made him realize he was always viewed as just a "senior apprentice".
I think the brat was mad about how ironic it was that she only saw him as his senior in the end which he had a huge inferiority complex against her to begin with.
The quote could also have more meaning than that too since ch3 does mention he didn't marry her out of love to start with but he did picture a future with her for some time before he got impatient so maybe a bit of him hoped she had seen him as a lover too or something.
Did that woman do that on purpose, or is she just stupid? Who the hell walks up and blurts out someone's personal business in the public eye-especially when you're involved or included in it!
