When I was in uni, me and my friends walked-in to a lot of offices to send our resumes personally for internship. While we were resting from hours of walking, I got a call from my mother telling me she sent my resume to this famous ad agency. Apparently, her friend holds a high position so I got in instantly. I had an interview just for formality's sake at the same day while my friends had to wait in the lobby. It was a good opportunity but it's humiliating knowing I got an easy pass just from a simple connection. I learned later that they didn't even have an opening for interns that year but opened a few slots because of me and two more girls who also have relatives who works there. A few years later, my friend told me that she still feels a bit bitter about it coz she was hoping that I'd take her with me.
Even you are from different major or have first class pointer, you still need connection when you want to work in certain company. From my experience. I already apply many jobs and went to many interviews, they still asking you about any your relatives work in their company. That's the real life. Lucky for you Fanboy... I really jealous with you....
