From what I gather, the depth of his love for the uke scared him, so he started distancing himself. Then, societal/parental pressure to marry--plus his own desire for a family--caused him to create even more distance between him and the uke. When his coworker confessed to him, he was already primed to leave the relationship, so he broke up with the uke to date and eventually marry her.
Like the uke said, his own fears and insecurities broke two people's hearts.

Yea inthink he married her out of nowhere. I think she invited him on a weekend, seme lied to the uke for where he was going, i think thats when the marriage proposal was. They probably didnt even have sex before that.
Considering they didnt get a baby for the years they were together, they probably didnt do it often so i dont think he cheated the uke. Well i hope

cheating on the uke with the woman? or did he break up with him and then start dating her? makes a big difference to his character. Before they broke up they seemed to be having difficulties having sex and he was barely home. It's sad how people just stop valuing their partners.
