Hello! No, Ash isn't a vietnam Vet, but there's a lot of reference about the war in the beginning, and someone related to Ash went and fought in vietnam. However the story is set most of the time in a 1980s New York. It's made to be as realistic as possible, with street gangs,races, cruelty, violence. This manga will forever stays in my heart, deep into my bones, I truly recommend it !

Before I read this I'm just curious, is ash a vietnam vet? That was probably the most traumatic war we've ever fought in, I've cut men's hair who never recovered.
