I think this is the only time I found out something I thought would be BL wasn't, and I was actually HAPPY about it! This story just wouldn't be the same if the MC was a man, and it's treating the situation of a woman in a medieval/fantasy army quite realistically unlike basically all other manga/manhwas of this type!
