The one the kidnappers are after is not mc but her friend. It first seemed like the informant talk to mc's uncle because he wanted to ask him if he was willing to sell his niece. But maybe he was asking him for informations on mc's friend. And I think mc doesn't quite fit the criteria for the kidnappers. They want a girl who won't be missed, but as the author wrote mc is close to a lot of villagers, so her disappearance would be noted. Mc uncle also insisted that mc stay home because he wanted to protect her, I think. So the kidnappers don't take her. It might appear as if the kidnappers are mistaken mc for her friend but mc's friend is the intended target.
P.s. I tell mc and her friend apart by their hair. Mc has this short strands of hair in front of her forehead. Mc's friend hair is very neat, not a single strand of hair out of place.
