Not surprised

Tencent is a big company so, while it's unfortunate it isn't surprising either. I really liked how it was before, but the super strict censorship was bound to happen. It sucks that these artists/authors have to revise most of their work. China needs to fuck off with their anti-LGBTQ+ content mindset.

well, thanks for saying that.it become so strict recently. from tencent manhua to tencent animations. all the same. Lan Zhan & Wei Ying in animation also can be considered as a bromance. but better than nothing right? i'm shoook soul-contract can have a male-male kiss (probably before it become strict).

Thank you for all you've done with the translations! You're doing an amazing job. When the donghua for MoDaoZuShi happened, while I loved it I was also disappointed. They changed the story quite a bit, and WangXian's love story seems so vague. Let's not even talk about the storyline mess that was the drama too. Both from Tencent. The manhua on the other hand luckily has stayed rather true to the novel, the audio drama too apparently. The Soul Contract dongua was a little bit before the stricter ban, but it's all done by a different studio. So that's probably why we actually got a kiss scene. It's just unfortunate that these stories are so censored, that you might as well not put a romance tag on it because oh the lack of BL.

oh wow! i'm glad you read MDZS too. for soul contract, some fans said the kiss was nothing but the transmission power purpose. that's why they don't have problem with that. kiss between male-male who had love between are forbidden (though i still think it just the same). i read the MDZS novel and the donghua was a bit mess especially @2. and yeah it's lucky we able to read the extras of WangXian smut scene. I'm so afraid that the author will get detention like what happened to some BL authors.

Yes I love MDZS! All of mxtx novels have been amazing, but that one is my favorite. When it comes to the Soul Contract donghua it was partly because of transmitting power, but there were also kisses just for the romance. But again, that donghua came out before the super strict ban happened, which is the real reason it was able to happen that way. Trust me when I say they would've found another way to have the characters transmitting powers if it was during the current time. I agree 100%!!! I'm actually so happy to finally see someone else agree with me about the MDZS donghua. Certain parts in s1 were changed, in ways that weren't needed plus very mild scenes were changed, like the stripping (because of their injuries) and lap scene with WangXian. You even had the really interesting horror/gore scenes censored and changed too. And s2 overall felt like a mess, instead of just "censoring" things, it felt like they changed the storyline. Which is very unfortunate because I had hoped the donghua wouldn't stray so far from the original material. We were only lucky enough to get those smut scenes because that was before the stupid ban, if you've read TGCF, you saw how she wasn't able to put any smut scenes, just inserting very cute kissing scenes here and there. MXTX from what I've read actually has a fourth novel in the works, I read the summary and it sounds very interesting. The upsetting part is I heard that they locked her account? Or suspended it, which idk if that was cleared or not. So I'm worried they're trying to prevent her from creating more BL novels, especially with how popular all three of her series have become.
