Well I mean she did mention the fact that if she did actually fall in love w/ him, for him to send her a rose. So her resolution wasn’t that strong to begin with and I think it’s the irony of the situation that authors like so much.
Lol that’s kinda the point of the story , they don’t fall in love at the beginning but do.
