Ok let's clear something. Even in my country 50-60 years ago, poor girls that live in the countryside where given to wealthy city families (sometime relatives, sometimes not). There were called paradaughters or souldaughters. In reality they lived as intern maids and they had housing and meals. When they get older they were married to someone and started a family. If the family was a nice one they were provided quite well (light chores, education, etc) but if the family was a bad one they were treated as servants with no pay or rights until the end of their lives. But they were considered part of the family, living under the same roof. I believe same thing happened here. Minoru took pity on the child but never adopted him as a true son.. He became part of the family and a little helper around the house. So calm your nerves people.
