It may be unpopular for a certain group here but I pretty much agree with your post. I don't think this story is all that deep nor is it difficult to comprehend. Chiwoo may have trouble verbally expressing his thoughts, most of the time we can tell it's because he's scared of the what might happened if he said them. We're shown quite a bit of their inner thoughts throughout the chapters and I have not come across any part where Chiwoo has shown any semblance of interest in Jihyun in a romantic way.
Even in the flashback, we see they were very close and were best friends. But they were not in that type of relationship. The flashback even showed that Chiwoo dated girls so I'm not sure where people got the idea they were in a romantic relationship in the past.

I also agree with you, Chinwoo. He will always have a place in his heart for (el maldito loco del mmg ese) Jiyhun, as a friend.

also, unpopular opinion (i think) chiwoo and jiyhun wouldn’t be together even if jiyhun wasn’t bat shit crazy. now, hear me out!! chiwoo never had feelings for jiyhun romantically. even before he started acting out. his actions never displayed that he harbored romantic feelings! he saw him as a friend, not a love interest.
i think that was one of the reasons why chiwoo avoided the topic of jiyhun’s feelings every time they were brought up!! because he loved jiyhun but platonically. he wanted to hold such an important person close to him but when jiyhun began to attack others interested in chiwoo he realized that it wasn’t a possibility anymore.
i personally think that deep down chiwoo will always hold on to that platonic love he had for jiyhun before things went downhill. however, jiyhun really needs to let go of chiwoo and fina a mental hospital :,)
