I know there's no excuse for abuse but I'm actually on Hayashida's side on this one. Though, maybe, he should've just talked to Yumi about what his boss did to him instead of bottling it all up. But thing is, Yumi took advantage of the pain to escape. He liked it because it takes him away from reality. On the other side, Hayashida takes all the guilt and self-loathe because of hurting Yumi. He could break up Hayashida but he didn't (not until Hayashida did it himself)

Hayashida may have met someone he truly loved but can never move on from his past. :(

You're right. So I've come here from reading Sabita Yoru Demo Koi Wa Sasayuku, from which I never expected people to be understanding towards Kan (though I was, even before I found his own story) so what's weird is that people don't understand Kan after reading THIS story. SYDKWS is from Yumi's pov and it's, I believe, the original story. And although I could understand Kan's misery from it, where he was only shown to be abusing Yumi and at last telling him to let him go, I didn't think others would too. I later figured it's because they'd read the spin-offs.
But the comments here tell a different story. (Not all, of course. Some, like you, get it.)

Right? The scene where Hayashida was not only sexually but mentally abused by his boss was there so people could've been more open minded or understanding about his side, too. *sighs* Anw, I'm just glad after all that, both of them have a healthy relationship.

Actually... now that I'm thinking about it, my view of Yumi could be distorted. So I need to read this.
But I wouldn't say Yumi didn't leave while he just easily could. I don't think he's at fault for not leaving.

Ugh now I'm regretting saying anything.
I don't want to think about faults and I can't think anymore. Whatever feelings they had, all the circumstances, it was all so unfortunate and I can only feel sorry for them. I'm so sorry for them.
