Why make an analogy? Let's just look at the reality: a group picked up the project and was struggling with releasing even the regular amount of updates, so another group picked up the project to finish it faster with slightly less quality. The 1st group then left of their own accord instead of just updating at a normal, regular pace, which would've gained everyone's support.
