Not into the taming of the horse

Okay okay okay okay!! I know I'm gonna be hated for saying this but - I hate that magic Disney princess magically making animals fall in love with you smuck.

The Duke has just stated that this horse is a reward, but then goes on to think "wow, this horse is meant to be untamable and unmanageable". First off, why would he give her an aggressive horse as a reward?? That seems backhanded as hell.

And without her doing anything more than look at it, suddenly this uncontrollable horse is as docile as a babe. Don't get me wrong, if she had spent time and effort going to the stables and feeding it and trying to rehabilitate the horse and eventually made it love her I'd be all for it, but for this angry horse to just fall in love with her?? For no reason??? Why is she so special? Give me a reason and I'll get over it, but just having a flashback being like ~she loves horses~ isn't enough to convince me that she can magically tame an uncontrollable horse better than any experienced horsemen.

So, A; fuck the Duke for giving her a horse that he himself has been told is 'aggressive' and B, no more Disney princess stuff. We already like the main character, you don't have to make her an animal whisperer to beat in to us that she's good.
And C, we didn't need the Duke thinking that the horse was uncontrollable for it to be a heartwarming scene. It was already cute to see how well her and her horse got on, it was already lovely to see that she's wanted a horse since childhood, having the Duke make out that she's ~extra special~ because she made this horse randomly like her didn't need to be in the scene to make the audience like it.

But no one else has complained and now I feel a bit mean to make such a big deal outta nothing BUT! It has to be said. I like this character, but I hate the trope of making a character needlessly special to beat into us that they're "good".

He never said that Raven was aggressive or uncontrollable. All he said was that he was the most challenging. It was never stated that Raven was tamed or untamed which I'm going to guess tamed because they was a care taker for the house who actively lived in a stable. I'm not hating on you but some of the things you said weren't true and it is a pretty annoying cliched traited but so for I don't think Ebony as it. I think she just as a knack for horseback riding and the author wanted to give her a horse but didn't want to put in the time to give a strong back story with her and said horse.

Hmm, I know he didn't say that I was being melodramatic (lol), however my point still stands that for the "most challenging" horse there still was no resistance or challenge at all. I love her, honestly she deserves the best, but that scene didn't need the added bonus of the Duke saying that to make her seem extra special. I don't know, maybe I'm being sensitive, but I kinda like seeing her archive her own accomplishments by her own power, not some special protagonist power

maybe that's why he gave it to her. he thinks she's capable of being challenged and rising up. or maybe he's even testing her to see if she can become a not disappointing owner, which he said, for this challenging horse.

and i personally would love to have some magic animal whispering thing going on, so good on her for having it lol

wow... I don't think you should judge a character just cause of two panels. Yes, they did some cliche trope but why are you angry over that? shit literally ended after 3 panels. It doesn't define anyones personality

I mean yeah but I have seen people in real life that can get along with troublesome animals in a split second my dog for instance is a unholy bitch but I've seen her be find of people with no backing and I say this cause this hoe has attacked people over nothing she is aggressive but some people have that touch it could be about the same thing

IKR?!! No matter how good and strong the horse is, if it's difficult to manage don't give it to a woman who has no experience handling horses and just recently recovered from horrible injuries and distortions in her body. But at least he I don't think he expects her to immediately hop on on it. He'll probably give her time to learn how to ride and get to know that BEAUTIFUL horse!!!
