Right, I’ve seen readers here mischaracterizing Kyujin because of their bias against him since their own ship didn’t sail. Calling him selfish and Manipulative, it’s all projecting in order to justify their support for an abusive rapist. They’re ignoring the biggest part of Chiwoo’s initial healing was because Kyujin approached him in the first place. They say they want Chiwoo to be happy but part of that happiness will come with the help and support of Kyujin and they just don’t want to accept it.
did y’all notice how kyujin said “i want YOU to be happy” he didn’t say “i want to make you happy” or “only i can help make you happy” he completely disregards his influence on chiwoo’s happiness. i think that’s really important because it goes to show the differences between jiyhun and kyujin’s characters
even after he threw him down a flight of stairs jiyhun still begged to be forgiven. he wanted to return to the old days that made HIM happy, he wasn’t considering how chiwoo felt at all. also, the fact that jiyhun expected to be forgiven at all after he r*ped chiwoo is ridiculous!
finally, i do see kyujin and chiwoo maybe getting together in college after chiwoo has had time for his mental and physical state to heal. and if i’m being genuine, i could see jiyhun coming back later in the future and apologizing, not for forgiveness, but because he is better able to understand all that’s he’s done and show actual remorse from it.
also one last thing, you can’t excuse jiyhun makes actions because he has a mentally and physically abusive father. while it definitely did effect jiyhun’s mental health, he was still capable of making his own decisions. using chiwoo as a scapegoat for his emotions and doubly as a punching bag did no good for either of the boys.
but yeah i REALLY love this manhwa and it’s plot :)
