Yeah, in China she could risk jail just for having a gay couple as her characters, much less having them show affection. She kind of skates the edge sometimes on her social media. Her subtle way of protesting the laws.(I am using she, but can't remember creator gender, I mean no offense)
Just want to say that on the Chinese social media, gay couple is not approved by the main culture. And it will not be shown directly on tv saying that they are gay.But you definitely won’t be in jail for creating gay character in novels and mangas.Actually there are many fictions about gay are being published in China, so even though it has many limitations,you won’t be arrested for creating the character.
