That line "Lonely and pathetic" really hurt when WuXian said it. This kid was hurting his entire life and though he still needed to die and it doesnt excuse his sadistic crimes, I do feel pity for him and even though I hate him at the same time I dont hate him. The author is amazing for making such complex characters that even after everything I can still feel a little for Xue Yang. He was lonely and pathetic :(
If xue yang would have a different a different childhood he wouldn't turn out to be the psycho we know
