Yes, that might be true but you have to remember at those times 14 was the regular age to get married, if you reached 20 you were considered an old maid!!!
As for the uncle thing thats just weird, I'm hoping they will clear that up soon.

I'm sorry, I may be in the minority but that emperor's memory is kinda creepy. Did he kiss her on the lips?! The girl that he raised and treated as a daughter. The girl that is 14 years old. Love the manga but I still can't get over the fact that she was a 14 year old girl, whose uncle loved her a bit too much.
