Joel is fucking trash, whether the kid was dumped on him or not, once u make a decision to take care of ur kid, it is YOUR responsibility to look after their well being and provide emotional support for them, well.. That goes for pets too, don't just take them in, if u can't own the consequences and take responsibility

Except initially he didn't really get to make any decision at all, nor to get accustomed to the idea of having a kid, nor to grow to be a good dad. It was awkward at first and then, since they didn't have a big talk, it remained awkward.
Also Jesse needs to tell him how he feels. Calmly and face to face, without Chase or Andy around. At that point it's safe to assume Joel won't guess all that on his own. I wouldn't say he's trash, but rather that he's trying to do things the wrong way and only now starts to realize it.

Well, he did have the decision even Jesse said that he could have just left him there at the orphanage if he really wasn't ready.

Did you not read the episode. HE CAME TO A CONCLUSION THAT HIS SON IS GAY BECAUSE HE DIDNT RAISE HIM RIGHT. Do you know how much bull is in that statement? He is litterly chasing after a high school boy while his son is feeling unloved.

And ya, it takes two to have a conversation, and I believe Jesse is more than willingly to talk with him. But joel just cannot accept it, so he does the only thing he knows how to do, run away. So ya, he didnt realize shit

I'm not defending Joel I hate the man as much of you do I had a two-page rant about how much I hated the man too. I'm saying he should have left him in the orphanage if he wasn't ready to be a dad he could have had a family that actually give him the love he needed but nope he decided to be a half-@ss-dad!

Except that's not really a choice. It's like when you're given two options but one is so morally not right that you still feel cornered.

So yeah, I have read the episode and it doesn't change my mind at all ? This statement is shit, obviously, but Joel didn't seem to take too badly that Jesse was gay (he didn't react much, that was the issue actually). He's currently so obsessed with his doubts about raising his son right that he'd think anything Jesse is or does has something to do with his bad parenting. I didn't take it as homophobia or anything but I see why it could be taken that way.

As for Jesse, he does monologue a lot, and talks to Andy a lot, but when he talks to his father he just. Avoids issues until they built up so bad that he can only lash out. In answer to which Joel gets away cause "nope no idea how to deal with this". Which, I agree with you on that, is not good. BUT ANYWAY I guess overall this comic isn't to be taken too seriously ! I should just avoid the comment section cause it's gotten so toxic. __T__T__/
