I think it's a similar situation to April from "Gilmore Girls" or Dawn from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (lol. late '90s and early 2000s American tv show references). The character's aren't great to begin with. But even worse, they're used as tools for bad plots/writing/storylines. This amnesia arc has been going on for too long and everyone hates it. It's just angst after angst after angst with no end in sight. And unfortunately, Jeannette is at the very center of that. So, she's an easy target for people to focus their frustration.

For me, I really dislike Jeannette bcs, well, she was brought up as a hidden princess, yes? But all she seems to think is that her rise to that family will be smooth, that Claude and Athy will just be like: "Aw, yo our fam? then do come in and be fam bruh", when really, that's not going to happen at all. Before being just a regular family, Claude and Athy are the ROYAL family. Jeannette"s existence shakens the Royal Line of Succession, just like Dark Claude said. I just don't like how Jeannette seems to overlook? forgot? dismiss? that part, even though she should've grown up with a mindset for politics (bcs ffs she thinks herself a hidden PRINCESS). Does she really think that Athy was hosting those tea parties out of goodwill? Bitchass NO. Those parties were to foster good relationship with ladies similar to her age, so that in the future they'd be loyal to her. Normally, men should've been there as well (being that men are the likely heirs) but Claude is an overprotective AF Royal dad with a bloody history and as such can get away with being snobbish. On that note, another commenter noted that Athy is the only princess, and being like that means that Claude does not want another child. IF Jeannette just thinks, she'd realize that Claude has not been so bloodthirsty for years bcs he's building a foundation of loyalty for Athy. It makes sense, and no doubt other houses know of that, so why can't Jeannette simply THINK about her real situation. She's supposed to be bright, yes? Enough so that Mr. White initially thought that she can compare to Athy. So why does she seem so stupid????? Yearning for familial love is one thing, its another to be ignorant of politics despite growing up in a political household.
why do you guys hate Jeanette so much??? she just wants to be a part of a loving family?????
