That's correct, they're not following the novel's plot. Bcuz as far as I know, Anasthasius isn't actually Anasthasius but Aeternithas, who is Lucas rival in the novel and is only in Anasthasius' body to play a prank on Lucas (he's obsessed with Lucas bcuz he's the the strongest mage in the world, so basically he's crazy). . . And also if you notice on the earlier chapter where Anasthasius showed up, it was hinted that he's Aeternithas. Like when he talked to himself, saying that Anasthasius' body is weak, it doesn't have enough space to hold mana. . .
Unfortunately I don't have the link to the site where I've read the novel because the translator got mad that it was shared on facebook without her permission.

Hmmm. Since Spoon doesn’t seem to have any intention to follow the novel’s plot, we no longer know how long this arc is gonna last but I hope s/he doesn’t make this any longer because at this rate, people would just keep on hating Jenette (Tbh I hate her too but what Spoon is doing might not come back as what she intends to do if u know what I mean). （￣へ￣）
