A bit late responding, but this is my interpretation of it:
Hugo and Melvin were lovers that built their relationship/live/success around Hugo passion/talent for photography (which is overwhelming) until the point they lost their individuality and constantly fought, so they decide to break up.
Melvin see Edo taking pictures of him, like he is once again in the viewfinder of a photographer, brings him home and have sex with him.
Then Hugo, who was in an abusive relationship, come back into the house, cause that's the only place he could go.
Hugo see Edo passion for photography and decide to teach him his way of photography and have sex with him (overwhelming you know), so Edo was losing his individuality as an artist, which Melvin declare he should then go back to Berlin to finish his studies and find is way.
Hugo finally reveal he did all that cause he still loved Melvin and was upset he let him go, they end back together. Edo is now a photographer for sports event and won prizes. - The end-
