Not a point of criticism, just an introspection. I was thinking: If I were ever in a similar situation to the FL in this story...

I may be able to sympathize and understand the ML's reasons, perhaps even forgive him...but I don't think I could ever forget and carry on a life with him. The painful memories would be too much of a burden. I'd rather we clear things up and move on.

Regardless of his reasons, he made the choice to betray me instead of trust me. Not just in my character, but my ability to share his burdens. Perhaps there could have been a different solution that could come about from two minds instead of one. This was the real betrayal.

Anyway it's not that I don't believe in second chances, but this was too cruel. Once the ML started his plans, he never really gave the FL a /true/ choice. She was simply unavoidable collateral in his plans.
