Maybe so, but I like this way better! We don't see this often. Damsel in distress has been the staple that I expected her to be found unconscious. I love the way the author didn't go half-way on the independent woman scale. She gave her the mechanism to free herself, save herself and stand up for herself. It is so refreshing.
I prefer Raeliana got saved ML when she was all tied up around the burning fire, rather than escaped by herself. Not because I want her to be damsel in distress but because it’s easier for the ML to believe that someone did try to kill her, but now she was able to escape makes it easier for Bea and Vivian to create scenario that Raeliana was the one who started the fire or anything to blame her.
