I didn’t like him, he doesn’t care for his girlfriend, he doesn’t care if people start a rumor about his friend being homosexual (as he said things easily misinterpreted loud and clear in front of strangers). All I can see is that he only cares about himself, a true narcissist, but I’m hoping he changes for better as the story goes on

Most readers could literally give zero fucks about girls, girlfriends, wives in yaoi. We have a main character that has absolutely zero likability in reality and zero redeeming qualities yet he’s willingly to have sex with another man so he’s a saint now.

To be fair, most girls in yaoi plots are written as filler characters and audiences aren’t given a reason to care about them. If we’re given a reason to care the females, then great, I’m on board. But most of the time they’re written like they are here in this manga where readers don’t give a shit, because we’re not meant too. Female presence in yaois is very minimal, and the handful that they’re in where they’re actual characters I do enjoy.
Most of the people “defending” the seme acknowledge that he has issues, and is a flawed character. I didn’t pin point it in my post but someone else did, he’s selfish. I hope to see him break out of this selfishness. If he doesn’t, then yeah, I’ll probably end up agreeing he’s an asshole. But I’m willing to read his story and watch his development.
Honestly, I was just really caught off guard how so many people were really disliking him, and I guess I was just expecting more to him. This plot is probably just going to be a stereotypical yaoi plot, which isn’t bad per say, I’ll still read it. But when I just saw people really talking bad about him, I was expecting... well, more than him just being a cocky guy who sleeps around and is careless.
