Um I’m not sure what had happened between the characters is considered rape...
I understand it’s a hard line (no = stop) but I consider something horrific like that to ALWAYS have an aftermath on the victim or survivor. The fact we don’t see one in Ed’s character says to me that at least to the author, it wasn’t meant to be rape. To be honestly I really don’t consider it to be either. They might not have a perfect or even fully healthy relationship but I think it’s pushing it when you call the intercourse rape.
Some corrections on this based off what's in the manhwa as well as the novels, considering your points are far ahead into the future and basically the novels, I'll discuss that as well.
1) As a bisexual person, a lot of the time you're straight until you find someone who makes you realise you're also into people of the opposite gender. It's common and it happens, it's a trope yes, but it happens. Also the fact that Ed was looking to do gay porn in the first place – not straight porn mind you – even if he was in it for the money, he was at least open to the idea.
2) Mcqueen hasn't limited Ed's work or who he can sleep with. Ed actually continues doing porn and tops several times before he and McQueen are "official" in the novel. It is Ed who makes the decision to stop doing porn, and stop sleeping with anyone else; there's no forcing on McQueen's part. It's Ed's decision, don't take that away from him. Also in the novels, McQueen actually wishes they would do couples porn, Ed isn't keen on it and they don't do it and eventually Ed quits porn, followed by McQueen later on.
3) Idk which film you're referring to because there are a lot in the novel, but Glen talks with Ed about the filming of the porn DVD and about distributing it. Like it's right there in Chapter 29 of this manhwa, so I can't even say that the manhwa omitted what was in the novel. In Ch 43 Janine tells Ed about the plan to change the way the plot of the DVD si to be presented – instead of a straight audition, Ed doesn't refuse or say no either. In fact he thinks to himself "It doesn't matter how they want to reuse it." He has his reservations about it but he neither voices them, and they fall to the wayside in view of the thought that he permits them to use the footage.
4) That wasn't rape. First off, at no point does Ed say "No" to McQueen. Also in actual real life relationships – no one actually asks each other for explicit consent every single time you want to have sex. That's just not how real relationships work. Ed never says no, at no point does he ever show that he's unwilling. And essentially rape means to force yourself on one's unwilling sexual partner – which it was not at all the case. It wasn't the original plan to go have sex in a hotel room, but plans change – that doesn't mean it was rape.
5) If you want to read pages of exposition – try the novel instead. This is a manhwa. Also their lack of communication is a fundamentally a defining characteristic of their relationship. It's a problem yes, but most of the latter half of the novel and the manhwa is about the problems that this creates and how they resolve it. Also it's not just sex, like the lack of communication is hardly NO communication. That's hyperbolic. Also in the novel there's a good 1/4 of it where they're just in a relationship and communicating – maybe not everything that bothers them, but they do.
6) The conflict in the following chapters – and a big part of the novel's final segment – is dedicated to the fallout from that film. Ed specifically tells McQueen that he thought that he was nothing but a predator/pimp who takes advantage of vulnerable people. Whether or not he can ask about WHY he made that film seems secondary in this case. Its not that he did not feel able to ask him, because he felt compelled or stifled or muzzled so he couldn't speak up about it. Ed didn't ask, and didn't WANT to ask about it.
7) Glen doesn't contact Ed, but this occurs because he's literally being hounded by the press. Ed tries calling McQueen but the call doesn't go through. Because McQueen can't call him, literally. All of this he explains to Ed later after he manages to get a hold of him.
8) In the first place, Mcqueen originally agreed to pay him extra for the film with a bonus. He pays him extra, because he feels guilty about him potentially "outing" their relationship. That's so FAR off from what love bombing is. What Love bombing IS, is showering your partner with affection and gifts and lavish displays of affection to display that this person loves you so much and so greatly, so you become dependent on them. Glen tells Ed this is MORE than promised, because he feels guilty about inadvertently putting Ed in an uncomfortable situation. Not because he's trying to get Ed to fall deeply in love with him, or as a means of manipulation. Heck, he barely even says he loves Ed because he's not very expressive at all.
Sincerely, the person who wrote the original novel spoilers.
Cecil's mother is some random prostitute. Ryan has a lot of issues, but his main issues are with regards to his drug addiction. In the novels, he's in fact unable to properly take care of Cecil and McQueen, and later Ed actually help take care of Cecil quite a bit. He does porn because he needs the money desperately, for his drug issues and his son. Can't remember what Ryan is working as currently, but I actually think he's still doing porn, or something along the lines of other sexwork, he just doesn't work with McQueen anymore. I skimmed through a lot of the Ryan parts and I read this more than a year ago so I don't recall the details that well.

is a mistake not talking things through and just have sex... sooner or later it wont do anything
