No, it's actually in the novel. I think his brother mentions it to WWX when he explains that LW has been in live with him since forever. Either that or Jiang Chen mentions it in the beginning when they meet up initially in the mountain and he suspects WWX is back.

I don't think XiChen mentioned this. At least i don't remember. All he mentioned was, aside from confirming lan zhan's feelings, that lan zhan was whipped 33 times and kneeled in front of Rules something and how lan zhan drag his still recovering body to YiLing in order to search for wei wuXian when he heard of his passing. Nothing mentioned about playing inquiry everyday (in my memory). It was implied on the anime tho, as the whole cultivation world did search for wei wuxian's soul after he died but since we knew that lan zhan was recovering this time, that would be impossible for him to take part on this. Tho, i haven't watched Untamed yet so can't really say for sure. As for the mountain scene with jiang chen, i don't think it was pertaining to lan zhan specifically but to the whole cultivation world?? I don't actually remember jiang chen saying that lan zhan specifically played inquiry everyday after wei wuxian died. Hahaha not much of a help

Yeah I believe it as well it is not even in the extras of the novel, he did play it when Wei wuxian was threw into the burial mounds for the first time so i thought that maybe he did it when after his death as well.

I don't remember it that we'll but in the novel it was said that Lan Zhan tried to search for Wei Ying's soul many times but failed. I don't think he played inquiry everyday, just in the beginning after his death.
