This story is becoming a pure mess. They really just used the cliche trope of ‘getting injured after a fight miraculously solves all problems’. I actually laughed when Joel started calling Jesse cause I was like, ‘imagine if Jesse got admitted to the same hospital and Joel realizes this because he hears Jesse’s phone ring’ and then it happened and I couldn’t be more disappointed with how the plot turned out.

Joel was again proving he’s a shitty character with that inner monologue of his, blaming Jesse for making him lose his ‘loves’ (one being Chase and cmon he’s half your age you’re really gonna blame your son for that?) and thinking of his kid as his enemy. I do agree that it’s sad Joel was forced into a situation he wasn’t ready for, and that he was angry atm and that’s why his inner thoughts were so twisted but... I’m just so tired of his character.

All I wanna see at this point is Jesse and Andy moments.

but... that’s the wrong way of thinking of it. Parents are supposed to provide their kids with basic necessities in life: it’s their duties as parents. Parents that are abusive and neglectful aren’t doing their duty properly, and should be punished accordingly for so. If you have a child, it’s your duty to take care of them, cause guess what you brought them into this world. Ppl are shitting on Joel bc yes, he does do his basic job as a parent, but that’s it. He doesn’t truly give care or love to Jesse, can barely have a normal conversation with him, and seems to blame him for wtv wrongs happened in his life. Yes parenting isn’t easy; but if you’re a parent, you had the kid, so it’s your job to take care of them and give them the love they need.

Yea I prob didn’t bc nothing in that paragraph made sense to me (grammar and sentence structure was completely messed up) so based on what I COULD read, I made a comment. I thought the person was saying that compared to other abusive parents, Joel is a lot better, and he’s doing his best in the shitty situation he was given, as kids aren’t easy to handle and teens even harder.
That’s fair. But I have a problem with ppl saying this bc Joel still is responsible for Jessi. Him giving Jessi the basic necessities and everything was his duty as a parent, but he is still being neglectful by not giving Jessi the care and attention he needs. Don’t compare it to other situations and say ‘oh Joel is doing better’ cause yea he’s doing better, but that shouldn’t just wipe away all the shit he’s done to Jessi. He still did him wrong; comparing it to something worse just undermines the entire situation.

I get it, Joel went through a lot by having to raise a kid he didn’t even know existed till his ex wife showed up then died, had to take care of said kid (who was practically a teen at this point), and raise him alone while working long hours to pay for rent and all that shit. That’s tough work.
But if y’all gonna compare Joel and say ‘he’s better than abusive parents’ imma say that look at all the hard working young divorced moms that have to raise their children themselves but STILL manage to do it while giving them the love and attention they deserve, UNLIKE Joel. :/
