I really enjoyed this story. Seeing the villian get away was frusturating, really. But I got an odd feeling that the purpose of this story was also not to pursue things when you've found happiness... which was odd but ended up being really nice. If they continued to drag themselves around trying to find him that would just be more time wasted they could have been happy.
I thought it was also interesting he looked back and realized he was a monster, and was inevitably chasing a love he wanted to take but didn't understand he couldn't have.
Of course, wish Samantha got her justice but I also guess life isn't perfect.
