If your tea taste like hot water then I suggest you add honey! Honey often helps the flavors of the tea come to life you can try to add many different things too, for example if you like coffee then it's recommended that you'd try black tea as well, for black tea if you add warm milk honey and sugar it'd taste like a sweet hot coffee like drink, black tea is one of the more stronger teas and the milk helps mellow out the bitterness to your likening, the honey helps sweeten it and the sugar is optional but it should make it more sweeter

I came from and lived in an arabic family, so tea is kind of the most common drink we enjoy daily, I must say, living in an European country, our tea is much more flavorful and enjoyable than those bland tea-bag infusions, I can teach you how to do it if you wish, or is a very easy home-made green mint tea

First, put some dried green tea leaves in water to boil (any random brand will do, especially the Chinese ones) it can be black tea leaves if you prefer, then, when the water starts to boil, add wuite the quantity of dried mint leaves (as much or even more than the tea leaves) and let boil on low heat and cover it with a lid, let it boil until the mixture took a deeper color and the leaves kind of fell to the bottom of the water. If you want to drink it hot (which is better), filter your tea with a strainer and add for better taste your favorite honey (we like to use eucalyptus honey, it goes well with mint, but it is a personal preference) and your tea is ready to serve !
If you wanna make it fancier and own those thin transparent and decorated Arabic tea glasses, put two or three fresh mint leaves in the glasses and serve on top, if you own normal tea cups, serve the tea and place one or two fresh mint leaves on top.
    Hope you enjoy !

Tea bags in general are meh. I have a tiny bag of Georgian Black Tea picked in the mountains or whatever that a Georgian gifted us and Im pretty sure its the most delicious tea ive ever drank. Even if i prepare it meh it tastes better than anything of the sort ive tasted before. Handmade/picked tea is always superior to the mass produced one in supermarkets. Its just the law of this world

I usually dose it by looking at it so i would say for 1 litre or water, put 5 spoonfuls of dried tea? Like when you fill with water the pot to half, the leaves should cover all the bottom of the pot and rise a bit ? And then you can try again and again, you recognize the dosage by tasting depending on your preference, if there is not enough dried leaves, the tea will be bland and wont have much flavor, the color of the water will be more transparent as well, and if there is too much, the tea will be rich in flavour but bitter no matter how much sugar/honey you put in it, the tea in the end should take (if you put black leaves) a crimson/golden color, if you used green leaves, it should take a brownish/golden color

Hey it's okay, you'll get the gist of it. Maybe you could try making smaller quantities so you won't feel to bad if you fail. Plus, failing is part of the process. Anyway, i'm sure you'll be able to make great tea

Don't worry about it. I'm always happy to see someone passionate about tea. I know it's hard with the current situation and i hope everyone is safe out there, with or without fancy tea leaves, as much as i miss them too :)) (i had to come home from my student dorm and i miss my tea collection very much TwT) Anyway, stay safe and we will pass these trying times ╥﹏╥ all the best wishes

Hah dont worry its normal ! You gotta try many times until you get the result you wish, also the less time it boils, the less bitter it is.

To recognize if the dried leaves are of acceptable quality, simply crush some between your fingers and rub them together then smell it, and taste it, you will get an idea of the final product once boiled (does not always work very precisely tho)

teas that are to be brewed and drunk on their own should not be over steeped or left out too long. I would suggest that you start with getting used to enjoying tea first. Because a lot of fancy teas are meant for the refreshing aroma and bitter refreshing aftertaste. If you meet any Chinese folks, you will realise that a lot of the older avid tea drinkers are not fond of having milk or sugar in their tea, unless they are the younger generation of boba drinkers. You wont get a strong sweet flavor unless you are all for the sweetened or milk tea variety. and both need a buttload of sugar to taste good unless one trains themselves to like the less or no sugar version. My younger brother would regret stealing my bubble milk tea because of how bitter it is. I think a beginner into tea drinking should start with milk tea, green tea and lemon tea. Make your way up to Earl Grey, Oolong, Mint tea and Black tea without milk. Its an acquired taste and something you will not regret once you have it.
