Kinda feel funny reading the comments

If you asked me whether to remove this one from my reading list, then No.
I do understand how the Author and Artist feeling when their own bread source was pirated and used 'freely', but the point is...
When someone purchased the chapter, the right to those purchased chapters belong to that purchaser... so, if that person want to share, what claims we have against that?
Then again, the revenue for creator's livehood will getting worse... so, purchasing the chapter for your very own personal use is still recommended.
For one thing, if you want to share to others without damaging the creator's health status to much, then you can set it like in a certain yaoi aggregator site: Free for read/watch, but cannot be downloaded, thus restricting its 'use'.

That's not how copyright works, at all. Just because you purchase a chapter does not mean you own that chapter. You do not have the "rights" of that chapter. Think of it more like by buying the chapter the author has given you permission to read it. They have not given you permission to share it. The author still controls the dissemination of their work. Whoever uploads chapters here is not the author and hence does not have that authority. Therefore regardless of if they purchased it or not sharing the chapter here is still illegal

I don’t think you fully understand..

Comics like these, published by Lezhin, is under copyright protection. This means that Lezhin is the only company that legally can sell copies of this work. Just because you bought a chapter, does not mean you own the story. You did not buy the rights to the story. What you own, is the right to read that chapter you've bought, on their site. You do not own the rigts to destribute it. Mangago also does not own the rights to destribute this work, free or not. That means Lezhin will be able to drag their ass to court for illegal distribution of copyrighted materiel.

Wow, you people sure are harsh.... Maybe it is just me that naively thought that way.
but please do differentiate between Sharing, Lending, Showing, and Copying in things related to copyrights.
Then again, why do you visit this site then?

I didn't mean about the right for copying, re-distributing it for re-sale.
When I purchased something digital, some of them have will have watermark noting: this file is private property of xxx, which mean I have a degree of freedom to lend, or let someone has it.
It's not against the law to let someone to read your purchased manga, ne?
Lets say, you have purchased a physical/digital manga of UraBoku, and your friend want to 'borrow' it from you to read, who can refuse him/her? It's you; as the 'owner' of that copy.
But yes, I won't let them copying my copy further. it would clearly be a breach of copyright law.

Lending your comic book to your friend, and publishing it for everyone, is two very different things. That one copy that you own, you are more or less free to do whatever you want with. But you cannot make copies of it, because you don’t have the copyright (right to copy)

Imagine you buy a movie on DVD. You can watch that dvd all you want, even invite your friends to watch it with you. But if you took copies of that dvd and gave them out to your friends, that would be illegal, right? This is not much different.

I think they're just saying that the way you look at this situation is wrong. You said that as long as you buy it, you can do whatever you want with it. I dont know if you realize but there's something wrong with that statement. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Simi gave an excellent example for this which I highly recommend you read. I don't know if you know this, but Disney, for example, is notorious for going after schools who are showing their films during fundraising screenings. Why? Because those schools are sharing their product without their consent to a larger audience. Breaching copyright is not only about copying someone's work but it also about sharing someone's work to a wide audience without their consent.

And this is the confusing part of the law. At least for me...
Let's say: I purchased an e-manga, but I want to 'share' it with everyone else, thus I put it in my cloud drive while also put a restriction setting : read-only, therefore letting other people read it for free, but at the same time prohibiting those people to copy/download it.
Was it a breach of copyright law then?

Lezhin having copyright means that Lezhin is the only company/person who is allowed to make copies and destribute them. In your scenario, you technically made a copy of the comic in the cloud, and destributed it. Just because other people can’t make a copy of it doesn’t mean it’s legal.
