Hmm, over here it is common to wear black but there are also people who wish that 'their life' is celebrated with wearing colors. It really depends on the one who departed, how, his or her family and your own wish as attandee.
In our country we believe that if a family member die, you are not allowed to wear red for a whole year. I dunno why but we do it.
