i think the biting thing is confusing too, but it is actually helpful cus omegas won't spread their pheromones to others except their partner. There is a lower chance of them being raped. i also see it as a marriage thing, people can be together without a piece of paper tying them together but it still has a significance to the lives of those who are married ya know? similarly, they can be together without the bite but for the omegas that have the bite (consensually) the omega and the alpha will see it as an important thing, a bond. idk this is what i read so far in omega verses and my perception of it, i'm probably taking this too seriously though lol !

although with marriage, it’s usually mutual and it can be made void whereas bonding isn’t necessarily voluntary and it’s problematic that bonded pairs belong to each other for eternity
Its like their trying to create a world of fairytales where there's a happily ever after or a curse (when omegas are left or abandoned by their bonds) w/ch gets too toxic or really cruel. I dunno.
