Ok, so as a Brazilian...

Ok, so as a Brazilian I don’t feel offended or anything but there are certain things that bothers me a lot.
When I first saw that they ML was from the same country that I, it was pretty exciting, even though the biggest population of Japanese outside Japan is in Brazil, they don’t mention us... ok they basically just send the poor and hopeless here because they were trying to rebuild they country and was to manny hungry mouths to feed, so they just dump theses people in other place to have less problems? Yes, and I was pretty bad in the beginning for these people but a I’m not here for give a history class, much less a ignored part of our history...
My point is, it’s pretty rare to see something about us, especially if is not related to samba, carnaval, Rio de Janeiro... Unfortunately this is about Amazônia and how pretty much we all live in trees (wtf bro), but I thought ok, let’s see the rest, let not judge
I didn’t expect much from the romance so I was not a disappointed, but that Poppy is a bad bich, moving on..
The only name that is normal (and I even laugh when I see) was Flávio hahaha the rest was a little weird.. For example the full name of the ML, they are “Brazilians names” but I don’t know why but they sound strange together (curiosity Ferro literally means Iron), and Nuno is more like a nickname than a proper name.. Nino exist but Nuno.. nah
The representation of the indigenous people was bad. Ok, I know that exists hundred of different tribes and cultures but I don’t think they walk around with spears 24/7 AND wtf with the Inca stuff (I’m not a specialist in this part but I think the author did something a little more like the Maya, but since is not even in the same region so i will just ignore). ok, it’s the same forest but is not the same region, even if the Incas had reach Brazil they would stayed in the continent, not in a little island, bro wtf you hit really far on this
The houses in the trees also bothered me, especially because they have exotic animals running around. I know technicality the live in the middle of the forest and this can happen but it borders me.. is not like they did this based on reality or studies they made to know how people in those regions actually live, is just based on their own idea of what is like
I not sad about the FL’s father ended up being really dead. Fck U British ಠ_ಠ always coming to others countrys to take things that are precious to us to put in your museums, and when we ask back you give a nasty excuse saying that we don’t have conditions to maintain or if you send back everything you will be empty.. I don’t care you did the wrong first (I’m not angry just about my country)
And the fact that the treasurer her father was looking is something like a pirate treasure (a chest with gold coins, European jewelry etc) is also funny because is “sacred to locals” bro is not even ours stuff, is clearly not something indigenous people would produce (or the Incas)

Anyway, I didn’t hate because I didn’t expect much, I was a ‘good’ five minutes reading while I waited my coffee’s water boil

6/10 is more than fair

Sorry is my English is weird, I didn’t receive a formal education and is my third language, i read and speak better than I write

This end up being pretty long hahah sorry I just need put this out hahaha feel free to like, comment, ask questions or hate :) bye

I don't know anything about Japanese being in Brazil or Brazilian history, but the original writer and creator of this story is not Japanese. It's someone called Violet (I think she's American, or English, I'm not sure)who wrote the original novel. And it happens that a Japanese mangaka made it into a manga only picturing what's written. But anyway, I'm not trying to defend Japanese or be on anyone's side, just saying that the Japanese dude who drew this manga is not to blame here for anything that would be wrong but the original writer. You know more about me for sure of what's wrong historically and anything else that doesn't seem right.

First of all, thx for reading all of my comment Teru hahahaha
And I’m not trying to blame the mangaka or the original harlequin writer, I was just saying about the things that bother me a little in the history in it essence, without care for the media, may be manga, novel or even a movie, I still wouldn’t enjoy that much, but is not a terrible thing

BUT I do believe if you are writing about a different nation than yours u should a least research about the local history, culture and habits, be respectful and avoid stereotypes
This one did not make a good job, but not a terrible one either, like the surname of the character been Ferro (Iron), is not common but it could happen, like my surname is Ferreira (blacksmith) is much more common, but you can see that the author came from somewhere
Is just the overall that feels every shallow but is nice to see my country out there

You're absolutely right about that. And I even find it weird if an author takes the time to write about 100 pages book but not do enough research about what they're writing about.
Not to forget of course, that this was originally an English book, then got illustrated into a Japanese manga then got translated again to English. So something might have happened also during translation. And that bring a lot of mistakes, even one word spelled wrong can change the whole context.
    And I love your name

Hahaha right? So much effort wasted
Even if something was lost in translation I don’t believe it would make the history better hahahaha but really, some of the name can have been mixed in this confusion
Heheh thx (//∇//) for a second I was thinking you were talking about ‘pocan’ and I would say it’s a fruit but I remember I told you my real surname and I was like (−_−;) ‘hmm I have a really short memory’ hahahahaha
btw Teru is a cool name too (≧∀≦)

Just a little remark it was written in 1968 so I don't think research was as easy as today and to learn about a culture and a country in a few months shouldn't have been very easy so the author should have done some stereotypes in her novels and yeah its a pity.... but for those who've read it without knowledge about it I think it's stay a pleasant read....after all harlequin novels and mangas aren't there to learn about culture just to pass a few mn elsewhere..
    .without thinking....
