I am not justify Randolph action for burning his mom alive, but man... if you do not grow in abusive household, you will never know how it feels. My friend right now still had panic attack if he suddenly make sound from his step, or incidentally making any disturbing sound, because his alcoholic father will notice him, then beat him. He often said to me, that if he could kill his father without any consequence, he will do it.
Dont judge Randolph for his action, you dont know how it feels live with somebody who abuse you all the time. Just be grateful, the worst thing of most our parent do to us is scolding, a lot of people have it worse and in the privilege and lucky of our parental position, we had no right to judge him.
