I ain’t saying what he did was right, but look at it from his perspective.

Dude he killed his mom. She was not perfect but she wasn’t evil. Definitely not deserving of death. She was also a victim...and he just straight up murdered her. That’s fucking insane. Plenty of people have emotionally absuive parents and don’t murder them....I think because it’s fiction people start to forget just how wild it is to actually commit murder.

True. His first killing happened to be a bunny, not for survival but cuz some kid wanted a cat not a rabbit. This sends a very jarring message: you don't like something, eliminate it. He kills the dog for that very reason. Next, his mom. In a world where death is an everyday occurrence and it's a norm to ask a child to kill on command....he's merely a product of an immoral world. I can't blame him for his choices, but I do blame their system for failing to protect them.

I guess he better own it and repent on it. He can't just blame everything on the late King and whine about not being able to kill him personally.
No worries. Our son of Duke will straighten him out.

Well I’m not some delusional fan, I can understand what he did. And yeah it’s pretty fucked up. I think this tragic and legit terrifying backstory of his adds to his character. I guess we’re gonna have to see how the author lays out his character in the future

I mean she already did a poor job writing him. She’s trying to make readers sympathetic to him, and clearly you are picking up on that, but his actions don’t line up with how she wants us to feel about him. If she wants him to be pitiful, she’s doing a bad job. It would be one thing if she wrote his mother way worse so that the reader could actually sympathize with him. Here he had tons of alternative better choices than killing her to solve his problem but he WANTED to kill her, because he isn’t a pitiful person, he’s a weak willed angry man like his father. If that’s what she’s going for, to parallel him more to his monster father, Then good job. But she seems to be trying to make us feel like his killing was justified when it wasn’t. That’s my opinion on the writing.

I actually do agree with that, the author clearly didn’t write the character well, but I’m willing to see how the rest of the story is going to go. I think his conflicting feelings make his character all the more interesting tho. To get rid of his problem (his mother) he killed her, but as the house burned down his instantly regretted. Its as if the only way to get rid of his troubles is to kill them so why does he regret it. If he truly wanted them gone why feel sorry about it later? I’m excited to see if the author develops his character into something far more menacing

It would be interesting but I can’t see her doing that because she’s setting him up with the dude whose name I can’t remember right now...the guy with the silver hair. Maybe it’s supposed to be a “redemption through love” subplot or something...either way I’m going to keep up with it too...but I’m kinda losing hope for it...
