I think she is trying to get the brother’s acceptance.

She want her brother The King to believed that she and Ares had normal relationship like others, fall in love and then getting engaged, it would surely be weird if they suddenly getting engaged out of nowhere, Kai would have noticed that their engagement are based on contract and he wouldn't accept that.
