Can I just say I haven't completed the novel I've gotten to the point millie becomes a maid but I still am bitter over the fact that lane never apologized for being so blatantly rude to aria for so long because he didn't know that was who they were actually looking for. Like the fact he always looked coldly at her, scoffed at her and his overall off putting attitude especially when she sisnt say anything rude or do anything wrong while in his presence. He could tell early on the rumors were probably false but still acted that way, and I get that he was trying to show obvious favor to millie and win her over for Asher but that didnt mean he had to be so awful to her. Even when he met Sarah the novel said he acted differently to her than aria and was pleasant to her, like what dude why are you being so rude to her when she's never made a rude comment to you? Maybe I'm overreacting but aria was also bothered by it and so far he never apologized to her and his bad attitude was never brought up but it just really irked me and still does. Sorry just needed to vent quickly because it bothered me that he never apologized for being blatantly rude to her for so long and it was looked past

    Who is lane @Jll

Hes a character that appears later

    Spoiler:
He works for Asher and is asked to deliver presents to millie and showers her with compliments and he also ends up testing her intelligence

I think at that point it was gonna be more insulting to admit or come clean with that rather than leaving it. Him just leaving it also made sense as its too late to correct it, as small correction had been already made when the was receiving the tulips from him. At that point Lane also knew very well that her character wouldn't be swayed by gifts that she gave away to others that she didn't want. So saying anything further on the past event was now unnecessary.

    Hestia April 15, 2020 5:20 pm

Correct but the tulips were from asher not Lane, when Lane found out he could have said something when he went to deliver the letter to her more Privately when there was only one maid around I was expecting at least an apology for his rude behavior but nothing. Aria is the kind of character that holds grudges for those that wrong her, and yes the misunderstanding was cleared and also yes I'm sure she would have like the thought that if they knew in the first place lane would have been acting rude to millie instead which would make her happy, bute regardless that didn't end up being the case and all rude behavior was directed at Aria for a long time until the misunderstanding was cleared. I may be petty for thinking this way I totally get that, but I don't know if someone was really rude to me for a long time to the point they even scoffed at me and looked down on me after I did nothing wrong even if they misunderstood who I was i'd want an apology. it was quite the insult.

Re: tulips, all his actions were according to his masters wishes, so it would be strange that Aria wouldn't have deduced it as their mistake, so it would've been weird not to let it go as a "correction" was made. So dialogue would seem unnecessary with the exchange of letters that came later. Especially when she realised it that the one that was getting the Lillies was the one discriminated against whole time. What was more satisfying is Lane confirming it to Mielle instead. Confirming it to Aria was gonna be too unsatisfying at this late point, it would be burdensome on Aria to be reminded again of the past that she is moving on from.

Well Lane was being rude because she wasn't the target and she was the daughter of a concubine. If you have ever read other manga/novel like these ones the concubine children are always treated without respect because they are not truly from the bloodline. Thugh it was still rude >:(

Oh thats completely true she does end up seeing it as they made a mistake and corrected it, she realizes that, and at one end the letters do show her that lane was really ashers subordinate, but for me just that fact alone doesn't make up for i think it was a couple months? That he was rude to her. If someone was rude and disrespectful to you for a long period of time when you've done nothing wrong and are forced to put on a smile against your wishes if feel like I'd at least expect an apology, as it's seriously the least he could have done. Just like a hey sorry there was an initial misunderstanding that ended up lasting a long time I shouldn't have acted as I did i was under the wrong impression, i hope we can move forward from here on a good note. Takes a couple seconds, it doesn't make up for the mistreatment, but it does show that he at least feels bad for it. I also think if Asher knew how rudely he had been treating Aria the whole time regardless of it being a mistake on his part he would still not be happy about it at all, though neither lane nor Aria ever bring it up, so maybe she just disregards it and moves on because she realizes it was a misunderstanding and likes that millie is now being discriminated against instead of her, but none the less Aria herself was also discriminated against by lane for a long period of time, so my opinion is regardless of it being a misunderstanding, if someone wrongs you continously for a long period of time I think an apology is in order. Discrimination deserves an apology.

I've read too many like this XD and you're right they get treated disrespectful and some even get hit and other things like that regardless of their new title because their blood is considered filthy, but two issues with that is that he realizes that she is the real one they are looking for, asher wants her regardless of her blood and he is told this. Sure he starts being nice to Aria because his master tells him there was a mistake and he knows his master rather him be nice to her than not so he completely changes his treatment of her, but this also shows again that blood doesn't matter when it comes to how he should be and should have been treating her since his master disregards it. Second, spoiler:

It turns out she is of half noble blood when her father comes into the picture. And still no apology for the rude discrimination. Granted its been a long time since he had been rude to her since this was found out much later, but even when it was known he didn't apologize. I haven't completed the series completely I'm near the end but the story just glossed over it and never addressed how she felt about how rude he was. It's just my opinion when he found out there was a mistake and he had been continually purposefully indirectly and directly rude and insulting her i think an apology was in order and the least he could do to try to remedy any negative feeling for him she carried before because of his own actions.

mmmm okay I see your point but apologizing now would be really late but now that you mention him being rude. I remember that, spoilers

he also goes on and plays a prank to make Arias and Asher's relationship a bit unsteady for like a day, like Lane did not have to do that even if Asher left him a ton of work. in conclusion he just looks out for himself ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ xD

I agree at this point its too late I had hoped he would do it right off the bat, but i just wanted to share my thoughts that I was disappointed he didn't and his bad behavior was just looked over in general. i kept waiting to see if he would do something to make it up to her especially after he learned she was also of noble blood but alas nothing.. And really? Hmm i wonder which chapter that was its been a while since I read it so I can't rmr.eber where I left off but I think i have yet to reach that chapter, it sounds like he caused a headache for himself im surprised when he knows his master so well, knowing asher he wouldn't take kindly to someone negatively effecting his relationship with aria even if it was just for a moment haha

    Sibley April 17, 2020 11:46 am

Yeah i know what you mea. And in the beginning would've been best, but it would also be admitting that him and his master also disregarded her due to her background rather than miscommunication and assumption. I think Lane didn't want to admit that even his master at first ignored the other possible person and assumed it had to be "Mielle" because she was acting gracefully and was smart.

Um all this talk about Asher and Lane...is Asher the blue eyed boy (prince i assume?) and if so does he fall for Mielle...and did i miss a chapter or is all this things from the Novel rather than this manga?
