That's the thing- we shouldn't really be getting plot points like this in more modern yaoi. I expect less of it tbh. Kinda a shame.

TBH, it's not just the plot, it's also the way it's handled? Usually yaoi softens or romanticizes stuff, e.g. "oh, he didn't MEAN to take advantage of the drunk cutie, but he's been in love with him for 7 years and he was just SO CUTE." So you don't end up taking it all that seriously, just rolling your eyes.
In this case, it almost feels like date rape. Like, he deliberately got the guy drunk and probably only listened to his trauma so he could manipulate him into sex, which just leaves a bad aftertaste.
