My theory is that the father created the rumor about Seungho being a sodomite and even cut off his topknot in order to escape from the purgery. By doing so, he wanted to show that he had cut ties with his eldest son. Notice that the father and his family left the main mansion which means that at this point, the eldest son had become the head of the Yoon mansion... If the authorities were to appear, Seungho would have been the only one arrested as his father had cut ties with him and had even left the mansion. In other words, the father wanted his son to become the scapegoat for the purgery. But in order to survive, Seungho killed all the servants in the mansion, all were replaced except his most loyal servant as he knew that the latter would never betray him. With new servants, the authorities could never prove that the Yoon family was involved in a conspiracy. That's why the painting was given to the father... HE was confronted by the consequences of his action. He has to see that he forced his son to become a sodomite and the latter had to ensure that this rumor became a reality. And this explains why he said that he lived by his father's principles and why he doesn't want to get involved with beared old men as his father was the one who was responsible for the conspiracy/purgery but he never faced any consequence. Seungho doesn't want to relive another purgery and conspiracy.
I had written two posts about this theory and now with this scene, it seems to confirm my theory. Seungho is actually mocking his father.
When his brother arrived, SH said he lived by his father's principles... maybe the father was cheating on the mother in the past?
My theory is that SH and his brother(s) had a loving childhood, and SH believed in true love at one point etc, until he saw his father rape or have sex with someone.. Who knows, Nakyum may even be an offspring of the Yoon family?
Maybe they are half brothers? Though I hope not..
Perhaps the father also turned violent at one point and hurt the mother? SH caused a scene, and the father punished his son..
but of course this doesn't explain why all the other people were plotting against the Yoon family... out of jealousy for their once perfect family, wealth or something?

Yes it was... in an earlier episode, Seungwon received something from the servant and Seungwon smiled thinking that his brother had finally accepted to make up with his father, while in reality he was actually sending a painting in order to enrage his father. A st... finger, telling him that he has exactly the way his father had made him, while in reality, it was just a way to escape from the purgery. The father was not an official, as Seungho told In Hun that his grandfather was the last one who had a position at the government.

Well i hope they not related, but i think that nk can be noble too! Like somebody kidnap him and left at kiseng house or even be bastard of some powerful noble. About mother it can be true too, but so far we dont have even a single clue about mother, if she was important in the plot sensei probs would left some easter eggs. Thanks for sharing

That panel with Sh father made me wonder what happend that horrible that every family which were close to Yoon family were even purged, was that Sh fault? Thats why is he so unstable? Maybe somebody have good theories?
