Help?? I’m a bit confused about the nature of time travel and it’s relevance to anything...

So yellow dragon became black dragon, and the animal spirits need to kill him every time that happens... but does he revive..? And how does he do that.

Then on the other hand, Yellow dragon reverses time each time Dojin dies in hopes that he’ll find a way to save him the following time. But why did Dojin hang onto Yellow Dragon and why did he let the sword pierce both of them..?
