Maybe for the people living on the duke’s land or something. She probably feels bad with the living conditions there so she’s probably not doing it for the duke but for the people.
I like to think that she's doing it for the people who are suffering not for the asshole Duke..... I mean if one got married and had the position to help the people that your in charge of wouldn't the correct path be to help any ways you can.... I mean yeah she isn't getting treated nice like why are they such assholes ..... but i don't think i could turn a blind eye to a bunch of people suffering if i could help in anyway..... and i don't know what she gonna do but its probably not something good since her uncle is against it..... but if it's the only way its the only way....

Hmm I guess the author is trying to make the MC come across as a super nice saint-like character but honestly I can't figure out why she's still willing to help the poor Duke when he's such a bastard to her all the time. Like she doesn't even have feelings for him so why is she being such a martyr?
