Don't you remember the beginning when Cabel would come and get treatments from her. And she would even go as far as make no noise just so he could sleep. Like for someone like Cabel who is such a light sleeper if she's willing to go that far of course its going to be a touching gesture. And all the other things that she had done for him. Like making sure he slept on raining days in the camp. And showing him that she was worried about his health. Along with her saving one of his best and closest friend, the bear guy, again why wouldn't he like her. Every time some event happens she is always there to help him and vise versa.
So no, its not something that suddenly happened it was months in the making.
Of course the author is going to focus on Blonde because that's who the FL learns to love as we shown in the first chapter. However, we are never really shown the interactions between her and Cabel as much. So you have no idea what is going in Cabel's mind other than what the FL thinks that he may be thinking. So of course when a scene like this happens its a shocker. And that's the point because it makes the readers curious as to why and when he fell for her.
I so agree with you because with Elvin it's more of an attraction but Cabel was there when she was totally freaking out... He's saved her more than once and didn't you see that smile!!! All the dark aura around him totally disappeared plus they've seen each other at their absolute worse can't get any better than that

Cabel just...they haven't really interacted, so him accepting her confession so easily is a bit...I thought they would go through more things together before that happened
