If we’re talking historically these laws back then we’re for men. Women were not allowed to vote, divorce or sue. Even if she manage to get a case somehow, the odds wouldn’t be in her favour as she would be seen as a rebellious girl disobeying her mother. People weren’t exactly logical back then. Technically what the MC did was quite risky. The knight had all the power to reject her in that situation. Heck he could’ve even ruined her reputation if he wanted. And if he changes his mind it would be easy to divorce her.
That's makes sense. You did a great explanation and I agree with you. But! She was a magician whom worked with many guys. If that world she's in was that strict, they wouldn't allow a woman to wander around guys.
Magic changes all dynamics. And also they allowed her to be a duchess without a man, that means she has a authority as an aristocrat. Instead of someone whom has no blood relations she still has more power.
She could also found some solid truths, facts. or maybe she can say stepmom had a plan of threason for royal family, with fake withness.
Or she could say that "The woman I had to lived always didn't acted as what she has to be. She wasted all money for her lovers. When my dad was dead, even in his mourning period she slept with other mans. I was young, i couldnt say anything. She should be regarded as offender of our church and law. a woman acts like that, she should be punished accordingly to their offence for public morale and chastity."
Even if she can’t do anything, she can just poison her stepmom and say everyone she is sick.
And money issue, she can offer a job for ml. And they can start a slow burning romance that’s goes steps by steps.
I’m sorry guys, but I have different opinion.
Let’s think like this:
If Mc was a man that found some way to go back from future, what would he do? Would he try to get married some rich woman for get rid of his troubles? Definitely not, right? He would try to solve his problems on his own.
She isn’t good enough to do everything by herself. Yes, she found a way to go back, that part was cool. But finding a great/strong/hot hubby, isn’t new in this kind of stories. She isn’t strongest, she isn’t best. She probably not gonna try that either. This is why, she is nothing new.
I’m not against romance. But come on, she is selling herself for debt. Well yeah its a pinky, unicorn, sugar coated way. She couldnt even handle debts and a old woman by herself.
Just cut some characters from other stories, and paste here, they all do the same things...
I hope story goes interesting afterwards. But I lost interest when she tried to find herself a hubby.
