If I'm not mistaken, you are talking about the web novel right? If yes then the web novel (WN) is similar to a rough draft and the light novel (LN) is where everything is fleshed out. A lot of events and characters in the WN have been changed in the LN or have been better explained. I hope that helps clarify a bit.

Yess i was reading the web novel. Not sure where i can read the LN. Was it completely translated? I feel like I saw it on novelupdates but not completed so i went with web novel ;-;
There are overall 15 volumes in the light novel but so far the official english translation has only done 7 volumes which will take you up till the hinata arc, there is also the fan translation which have up to 9 volumes. The link below will take you to a website with both versions

I actually love the manga (wish it has more chapter), I watched the anime too so I went and read the novel as well. It was really good but along the way, it drifted off from what I was expecting?
I'm at chapter 100 atm but somehow I find it a chore to read now??? Idk but I feel like the excitement is gone. Too many unnecessary arcs?

And idk im kinda pissed that Rimuru just forgave Hinata like that?? I mean yea she was prolly being kinda controlled (?) but what about the 15k soldiers he just killed? Its kinda hypocrite of him to do that, like saying don't kill any of the knights that Hinata brought but he didn't feel any remorse when he killed those soldiers. Idk, then again tbh I feel like Rimuru in manga and novel a bit different. Rimuru in novel is kinda cold for me (but so inconsistent) while Rimuru in manga is soft but when he killed the soldiers there, it makes more sense than the novel. Idk if I'm making any sense
Why I find Rimuru in novel inconsistent? He comes off as cold but then not really? Like in the novel, nothing was mentioned abt the fated person in the beginning unlike in manga and anime. So he was kinda indifferent abt Shizu even after eating her. He didn't even know about the kids, and only abt Leon. But then the next thing he was kinda respectful towards Shizu? I just don't get it. Would hv been better if it just followed what happened in manga/anime. TLRD, Shizu in novel in the beginning is not that important but suddenly she's kinda important along the way????
And then Diablo... just when they introduced a new interesting character, but suddenly he's just a servant without an important role
Also I feel like Veldora becomes a joke along the way lol
Never it crossed my mind I'll drop the novel cause I really loveeee the manga but yea I stopped reading the novel (even tho im not halfway) BUT I'm still looking forward to the manga!! It portrays the battles and scenes more better than reading mc's pov in novel =_=
