Wtf is happening here?! I don't get half of it! Klaus acts like he loves Taki but he keeps on raping him.. which led to Taki bleeding.. I hated how he acted so hurt and shocked afterwards as if he wasn't the reason that happened

Not that there is any excuse for the rape and it is NOT okay in any way, but I think it has a lot to do with how Taki lead Klaus to believe that things would be the same as when they were back in Lukenwalde and their relationship was far more consensual than it is presently. It's not really been discussed or shown yet what exactly the miscommunication was, or what happened between the two, but I think that after Taki was deported back home and Klaus became his knight (when they reached Taki's homeland) Taki pulled away from their relationship due to his duty and perhaps more... religious (?) obligations? Having a general understanding of Japanese culture is helpful and if you read all the translator's notes, they're quite interesting. I have the feeling that Klaus was hurt and confused by the rejection, especially since Taki didn't explain why and it only really took affect after her had no rights, and no way to escape. Taki was all he had.

If you take a look at the later chapters in this version (there's a continuation now, HUZZAH!), Taki is slowly starting to show that he does indeed still favour Klaus and still wants him by his side despite all that he's done to him. I think he feels responsible and guilty for 'trapping' Klaus in his current predicament, but does genuinely love him, and vice versa for Klaus. Klaus just didn't quite understand what he was taking away from Taki , it's more than just 'pride'... There's a lot left to be explained but I hope that helps clear things up a bit? XD

I read the wiki page and I think if people find out about their relationship they will die. Taki's innocence is almost scene as a way to win the war so he can't engage in any sin. Taki loves Klaus however, they literally can not be together. I think throughout the story taki is pushing him away to protect him.

Thank you for the explanation! I was like 15 when I first read this so a lot of what happened flew over my head. I understood that Klaus lived Taki and their feelings were mutual, as shown when they were in boarding school, but always felt that I was missing something in his their relationship changed. I was always anxious that Klaus might actually be a spy and betray Taki

I'm not going to police you for reading something this hardcore when you were only 15 (I was also pretty early to the game) but complex relationships like this tend to be harder to understand at that time.

There's actually a lot of context to their relationship in all the extras you can find from Inariya Fusanosuke, like all the chibi cat/wolf comics have some call back to the real manga (even if some of them are meant to be only light-hearted and joke-y). I honestly don't think Klaus would ever betray Taki now- maybe when he was spying on him back at Lukenwalde, but even then he seemed to be giving them the bare minimum information that was barely useful to them.

Either way, I do believe the story as a whole is incredibly well told, complex and emotive. You just have to read between the lines.... a lot. X'D I hope you enjoyed reading it, even if it wasn't very clear at first.
