Oscar did took the family name, however since the duke of Frederic and Isis are all in with the treason their household would be reduced from dukedom to commoners. Seriously though, Oscar will suffer just because his father and sister are wicked. But he is a smart boi so maybe he will be successful in what he do.

The plot timeline didnt really allow for Oscar to inherit the title, I think he was still being trained tho, and then the whole 'down with the Aristocratic Party' happned.

The title of the duke can only be passed on by the duke himself or if the duke died. Since the duke was hanged for treason, Oscar did took the family name. Unfortunately, the household was reduced to being commoners. Oscar becomes head of the house without the perks of a noble.
Yeah. I hope the commoners wont bully and shun him just because of his father and sister's wrongdoings.

I actually feel slightly sorry for oscar tho, his sister (Isis) obviously abused him which resulted in his meek and puppet like personality.
He ended up as a commoner after everything, but i feel like he might not survive that.
Dont get me wrong, I dont care much about him, I just reached the part of the novel where
it adds to the 'Isis is a goddamn bitch collection'.
