That event happened right after Asami raped Akihito. So I guess he wasn't as attached to Akihito at that point. He went and defended him mainly because Feilong crossed the line. He also felt some pity towards Akihito... just like he helped him with that detective who was using Akihito in the first chapter. I believe Asami was just excessively possessive at that time. He was seeing Akihito as a toyboy and a piece of property. He developed genuine feelings towards him a bit after. Also, the fact Feilong ended up liking Aki and caring for him helped a bit.
It's still rather odd how well Asami & Fei Long get along... I mean didn't Fei Long rape and kidnap Akihito? Well, but as long as Fei Long behaves now, and since it's only fictional, I guess I'll have to ignore that?!
