did desir ever say he had it really bad? It's been a while since I read this through fully but i think it's more that he was suppressed along with everyone else (as a general commoner), and eventually made a name for himself way later and suffered because of his talent (but I don't think he dwells on it because he expected that). just wondering? did they ever address that? my memory is shot so I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong

Desir's school life was full of neglect and shame. Basically, the teachers had nothing to offer and the alpha class were always looking down and occasionally harassing him. What bums him out the most is that he missed out on so much potential he could have had. He was harassed, but nowhere near as much as our new little friend. I don't know how graphically they will show it in the manga but the description in the novel was pretty brutal.
