Yeah, like pretending to be incompetent as a way to tie them together and then leaving because they couldn’t be in a relationship while living with their parents and he knew his brother would follow him. Or he had the typical “I’m in love with someone I shouldn’t be so I’m going to leave them before one of us gets hurt” mindset but is confused by his brother’s actions and is hoping he’ll come after him and say he feels the same way.
This would be a lot easier to stomach if the big bro was really twisted (from his dialogue near the end of the chapter he seemed a little twisted?), like in a way that he manipulated his little brother into lusting after him and that the “rape” was all part of his grand scheme...
